The competition is changing format and will be played over 3 Sundays in future years. To kick start the competition a shortened version is taking place in Leinster on 6th December.
Provinces can name a squad of up to 25 players but for each game only 18 can be selected (16 outfield & 2 goal-keepers). Games will be played as per EYHL regulations with 4 x 15 minute quarters
Players born in 1995, 1996 and 1997 were eligible for selection – and over 50 players were nominated by their clubs to attend trials on Sunday 25th October and Sunday 1st November.
LHA Head Coach Jason Klinkradt, is proud to be involved in the Leinster U21 set up this year. The South African has had much success coaching U21 provincial teams in South Africa over the past 5 years before making the move to Dublin last season and is excited to add value to the Leinster coaching system. Jason is the 1st team coach for YMCA and also coaches at Wesley College, being involved in numerous teams across the board.
"This is a truly talented group of individuals and the depth is astounding, it goes well past the 25 man squad selected. The format should see some explosive hockey and a great step forward to show case the young talent in Ireland."
