Vacancies for Coaches & Managers
January 16, 2019
The Leinster Hockey Association currently field teams in inter-provincial competitions as detailed below.
In recent years the Under 16 & Under 18 competitions moved to September to great effect. Players and coaches were able to concentrate on the tournament without trying to juggle club and school commitments at the same time. It is anticipated that the Hockey Ireland Competitions Group will ratify the proposed dates by the end of January.
We are now looking to appoint coaches and managers for the 2019-20 season for all squads and development programmes (excluding the Boys U16's & South East Girls U16's where the existing coaching and management teams will continue for the 2019-20 season).
Applications by email with accompanying 1-2 page Hockey CV for all coaching roles to admin@leinsterhockey.ie (cc; interpro@leinsterhockey.ie)
Head Coaches would normally be expected to have a Level 2 qualification and all coaches must have a minimum Level 1 certification and have completed a Safeguarding 1 course. All successful candidates will be Garda Vetted.

Commitment Required:
Interpro Squads: With the interprovincial competitions for U16s & U18s being played in September, the main squads of 26-28 outfield players need to be selected before May, with development to be scheduled through the summer. Players involved in national panels will have a three week rest period from mid July to early August - and the LHA squads will aim to have similar rest period, with the final teams to be bamed by 16 Aug (Boys) and 23 Aug (Girls).
The U16 girls development panel may attend a tournament in June for players born 2005/6 - depending on coach and player availability. The U16 boys attend a tournament in August. Both squads typically play regional development games within province and against other provinces in the Sprint.
Regional Development: Coaches will need to be available consistently from end February to end May. The number of players who can be accommodated in regional training programmes will be determined by the number of qualified coaches available. Given the high volumes of players typically nominated by clubs & schools for development and assessment, there will need to be two cycles of development.
U 17 Development: The immediate priority will be to appoint management teams to bring the LHA U17 development squads (boys and girls) to a tournament at Easter in Holland - players will need to trial for this by end of January/early February. As in prior years, players currently involved in National U16 or U18 core panels will not be considered for the tournament team (The U18 coaches will have oversight of this development phase).
U21 Development: The U21 squads will aim to play challenge games against the other provinces/national panels and will provide a platform for developing players. Players from South East are eligible for this development group.
Adult/Junior Inter-Pros: The Adult Club teams will work independently of the LHA high performance programme, setting out their own trials and training schedules.
